So what is the Essence Project?
The Essence Project is a movement to honor the unique and sometimes overwhelming beauty in every individual. I once had a photographer tell me that it is the witness who is responsible for capturing a subject's beauty. It is all about the timing. You can either get a photo where the model is mid-sentence with eyes half opened, or you can capture an unabashed second where his or her face glows with possibility. Anais Nin once said "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are." When you ride out to meet your life... what are you looking for?
I have spent time with seemingly very different people. I like to listen beneath the obvious into the whispered prayer. So what qualities do a purple haired old lady, a murderer, a child, and a famous producer have in common? Perhaps it is the longing to be seen and a gift that aches for expression.
